Why Do Christians Pray and Fast—And What Does It Mean for Me?

Why Do Christians Pray and Fast—And What Does It Mean for Me?

At Crossroads Church, we believe prayer and fasting are powerful spiritual practices that draw us closer to the heart of God. Throughout Scripture, we see men and women turning to God through prayer and fasting for direction, breakthrough, healing, and intimacy with Him. When we quiet the noise of daily life and seek God intentionally, He meets us in ways that transform us from the inside out.

Fasting isn’t just about giving something up—it’s about making space for God to fill us. It helps us refocus, hear His voice more clearly, and walk in greater alignment with His purpose. When paired with prayer, fasting becomes a catalyst for spiritual renewal, deeper faith, and greater sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.

We invite you to join us for a dedicated week of Morning Prayer Meetings, happening July 21–26:

  • Monday–Friday | 6am–7am
  • Saturday | 9am–10am

Meetings will be held in-person at Crossroads Church and also livestreamed for those who are unable to attend physically.

Come with expectation. Come hungry for more of God. Let’s start our days in His presence and believe for powerful things as we humble ourselves before Him.

Let’s be a praying people—together in the room or online. God is ready to move.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
—1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 (NIV)
