Life Change at Summer Camp — Louisiana Assemblies of God, Woodworth, LA
Every summer, students and leaders from across the state gather at the Louisiana Assemblies of God district campgrounds in Woodworth, LA for a week that is more than just games, services, and late-night laughs — it’s a week that changes lives. This year was no different. God moved in powerful ways, breaking chains, building friendships, and calling people deeper into His purpose.
A Student’s Transformation – Anzleigh’s Story
Anzleigh arrived at camp unsure of what the week would bring. She didn’t know many people and expected a quiet, maybe even lonely, few days. But God had other plans.
“You often hear people say that going to camp will change your life, and while it may sound convincing, I never fully believed that God would truly change my life at camp, but I was wrong. When I got to camp I was not super close friends with any of the other students there, and thought that I was going to have a long few days. But with every activity and moment spent together, I began to grow such strong friendships that I realized I had really made a whole new family. Every message spoken, morning and afternoon, was amazing, but I will forever remember the one message, and moment, that changed my life. After feeling God’s presence surrounding me during worship I already knew that night would be different. With every point made I realized that the message was answering questions I had been praying God would answer. Then there was an altar call, and when I went up there and started praying and being prayed over, I felt God talk to me and felt his hands lay on me like never before. Every little doubt or question I ever had rushed away and I will never forget the feeling of that moment. I suddenly had this fire under me to chase the Lord with everything in me. I wanted to really make a change. This change started the weekend following camp when I got baptized for the first time. I am now being led by God through so many new open doors from co-leading a small group to starting a bible study at my school, and all of these opportunities are sprouting from the seed God planted in my heart at camp. So yes, camp really is life changing, and it is a change you will only understand by being there and witnessing a change in your own life like I did my own.”
A Leader’s Encounter – Brenna’s Story
For Brenna, one of our dedicated adult leaders, camp wasn’t just about pouring into students — it was about letting God pour into her.
“As a leader, it’s important to disciple your students — but also to disciple yourself. God has no age limit on transformation. At camp, He met me, broke anxiety off my life, and used my fears to bring breakthrough. What drained my peace became the place He restored it.”
Her story is a reminder that God works in every heart, no matter the age or role.
Why It Matters
Summer Camp is more than an event — it’s a catalyst for life-long change. Whether it’s a leader breaking free from fear or a student stepping boldly into their calling, these moments matter. At the campground, God is writing stories that will ripple through churches, schools, and communities for years to come.
Next summer, don’t just hear about it. Be there.
